Psalm
37:12
"The wicked plots against the
just, And gnashes at him with his teeth."
Wicked - morally wrong, actively bad, guilty
plots - plans, usualy in the bad sense, thinks evil
just - lawful,righteous
gnashes - grates the teeth
at - can also mean because of
We don't like to think that there are people in this world that want to
be evil. I'm always
trying to give people the benefit of the doubt and make excuses for the
way people behave.
But there are people who don't have any morals that do bad things on
purpose. They
intentionally plan evil. There are the extemes like serial murderers or
terrorists and there
are those who just are malicious. The ones who try to make
the righteous people look bad in order to make themselves look
good. They may be mean-spirited and want everyone around them
to be miserable. Misery loves company.
The righteous person doesn't have to do anything to deserve being
plotted against. Just
doing the right thing can make a guilty person feel convicted and that
is so uncomfortable
that they lash out at the one they think is causing it. They
may "growl and snap" like an
angry dog or just grit their teeth because their plans don't work out.
I always try to drive the speed limit and boy can that aggravate the
guy behind me. Not
long ago, they changed the speed limit from 45 to 30 on one section of
our main road. You
would not believe how upset some people get because I actually am
driving 30. They will get on my bumper or sometimes they will
flash their lights at me because I am forcing them to do the lawful
thing and not allowing them to enjoy what would be a sin by breaking
the law and driving whatever speed they want to. Funny thing
though, when we drive past that hidden cop at 30, I just saved them
from a speeding ticket.
So in the same way, if the wicked follow close behind us maybe they
will see Christ in us
and repent and be saved. Then they could follow us right into
heaven.
Become a new creature,
