Psalm
37:10
"For yet a little while and the
wicked shall be no more; Indeed you will look carefully for his place,
But it shall be no more."
The Message Bible says: "Before you know it, the wicked will have had
it; you'll stare at his once famous place and - nothing!"
What this says to me is that the temporal or material things that the
unsaved build up will not last. Whereas we know that the
spiritual things are eternal.
In Luke 12:13-21 there is the story of the Rich Fool. Jesus
says, "...a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his
possessions." The rich man says "... take life easy, eat
drink and be merry." But God says,"You fool! This
very night your life will be demanded from you."
If you read the whole story in Luke you will see that the rich man is
only concerned with building bigger barns. Jesus warned him
to guard his heart against all kinds of greed.
To make earthly gain or riches the desire of own's heart is a fatal
error that leads to eternal loss.
Remember "You can't take 'it' with you."
But once you have accepted God's free gift of eternal life you won't
need 'it' anymore.
